Community – based Enrollment Drives

The Satya Bharti School Program operates on the philosophy “No child to be out of school in a village which has a Satya Bharti School”. It is towards this end that various initiatives have been undertaken to maximize student enrollment and prevent drop-outs. Regular enrollment drives, community sensitization activities and parent education are key channels to achieve this goal.

Encouraging Girl Child Enrollment

The Satya Bharti School Program keenly focuses on educating the girl child. Numerous interactive sessions are organized with community members to change their mindset about sending their daughters to school which has led to an overall increase in enrollment of girl children.

Through an in-built strategy, the Satya Bharti School Program attempts to overcome the challenges that prevent the girl child from coming to school. The following are the key constituents:

	Separate toilets for girls
	Focus on women teachers. Currently 58% of the teachers in our schools are lady-teachers.
	All the attending maids (one per school) are women
	Women - centric themes are built in the curriculum
	Quarterly campaigns to gather data on girl child education and devise enrollment strategies
	Special recognition campaigns for girl achievers
	Special sessions with parents of girl students to ensure regularity and completion of education
	Community campaigns led by our girl students encouraging girl child education
	All Satya Bharti Schools have a special component incorporating gender issues such as women health during Health and Hygiene Campaign
	Initiation of special Girl Child Policy to provide girl children with a suitable and sensitive school environment

Year-round Schools

The Satya Bharti Schools are run as annual session schools with short breaks during the summer and winter season. This is done with the intention to reduce dropouts, which is typical post a long break in rural settings.
