| April 2008: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab Inaugurated the Satya Bharti School in Punjab |
Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab launched the Satya Bharti School Program in Punjab on April 15, 2008. Under the program Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, will set up 100 village primary schools across Punjab.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated the Satya Bharti School in Village Ladhowal, Dist. Ludhiana. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman, Bharti Enterprises and Mr. Rajan Bharti Mittal, Managing Director, Bharti Enterprises.
The Satya Bharti School program is one of the largest public-private partnership programs in the country. It aims to make available high-quality education to poor children, out-of-school children, migrant children and especially the girl child. 8 Satya Bharti primary schools are already operational in Punjab with more than 550 children and 70 teachers. Bharti Foundation also operates 21 Bharti Community Centres in Ludhiana and Sangrur Districts where approximately 650 children attend remedial classes.
On the occassion, Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal said “With more than 300 million illiterate children in India in the age group of 7 years and above, good quality education is an essential component of a developing economy like India. It is to fill this alarming gap in the ladder of social development that Bharti Foundation has launched a large scale education initiative through its Satya Bharti Schools. Our commitment to Punjab and our country in the form of Satya Bharti Schools will provide quality and performance benchmarks to other education programs in the country.”
Mr. Rajan Bharti Mittal said, “The Satya Bharti School program is a unique example of a public- private partnership. It is my firm belief that an active private-public partnership can improve the education scenario in India. With immense access experts in technology and education, Bharti Foundation will make a mark in improved management and implementation of educational programs and set new standards for other players in the educational sector in the country.” |
