July 2008: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana Inaugurated the Satya Bharti School in Haryana

Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana today inaugurated the Satya Bharti School at Village Sotha, Dist. Kaithal, set up under the aegis of Bharti Foundation’s Satya Bharti School Program. The flagship program of Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, aims to provide quality education to underprivileged children in rural India.

Under the program, Bharti Foundation will set up 500 Satya Bharti Primary Schools and 50 Senior Secondary cum Vocational Training Schools in villages across India. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Managing Director, Bharti Enterprises, Mr. Badri Agarwal, President, Bharti Foundation and Shri Naveen Jindal, MP, Kurukshetra.

On the occasion, Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal said “With the UN Millennium Development Goals setting out to achieve universal primary education by 2015, the need of the hour is good quality education for children in all corners of our country. It is thus through the aegis of the Satya Bharti School Program that we have committed to contribute to the education sector in India. This initiative will address the need for quality education in rural areas and provide underprivileged children with an opportunity to be equal participants in the dynamic and changing economy of the country.”

The promoters of Bharti and its associates have committed a corpus of Rs. 200 crores for Bharti Foundation’s projects, in particular, for the Satya Bharti School Program’s roll out across the country. The Satya Bharti School program is an innovative model of public-private partnership in the country where even people from village communities have played an important role. It aims to make available high-quality education to the underprivileged, out-of-school and migrant children especially the girl child. Currently 161 Satya Bharti Primary Schools are operational across the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand with more than 15,000 children and over 560 teachers.
