Dr. Upinderjit Kaur, the Hon’ble Education Minister of Punjab inaugurated the first Government Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary School in Chogawan, Amritsar on April 8, 2010. Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Enterprises and Mr. Vijay Chadda, CEO, Bharti Foundation, were also present on the occasion. The Government Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary School is the first of the six senior secondary schools for underprivileged children to be set up by Bharti Foundation in rural areas of Punjab in partnership with the Punjab Government. These schools will offer free quality education to children with focus on English language, computer based learning. These schools also plan to impart vocational skills to students in future to make them employable.
Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal said, “We are happy to partner the Punjab Education Development Board in setting up these senior secondary schools in the state. The Adarsh scheme is an innovative approach to Public Private Partnership in the area of education and will offer students from financially weak background access to quality education, helping them fulfill their potential. Bharti Foundation’s 236 Satya Bharti primary schools are already reaching out to over 29,000 underprivileged children of which 8300 are in Punjab. These senior secondary schools will be an extension of this initiative and help us deliver our promise of quality education to the underprivileged across the learning curve.”
The Government Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary Schools will follow the CBSE curriculum and will have facilities like computers, labs, libraries, innovative teaching aids, sports facilities and teacher training facilities. The schools shall have quality teachers and dedicated staff to ensure highest learning levels and imparting of holistic education to the students.
The remaining five senior secondary schools will be set up in Fattuvilla in Distt. Amritsar, Sherpur Kalan, Rauni and Jhorran in Distt. Ludhiana and Jhaneri in Distt. Sangrur.
