Design for Giving School Contest

November 2009: Bharti Foundation's Satya Bharti Schools emerge as winners at the 'Design for Giving School Contest'

The Design for Giving School contest was a part of the Joy of Giving week (an initiative by Give India Foundation) which was held from 27th Sep to 3rd Oct. The nation-wide contest urged school students to come forward and identify issues that were of a problem in their own community/society/village and then implement a plan to address these issues. Students from approximately 1300 schools participated in the contest.  

The Satya Bharti Schools were one of the very few rural schools participating in this event which was dominated by entries from across urban schools. Not only did 1200 students (approx) across 83 Satya Bharti Primary Schools participate in the contest, many of them emerged as winners.  Addressing issues of Illiteracy, child marriage, drug abuse, environment etc these students have brought laurels to the Satya Bharti School Program. Three schools feature in the list of top 20 winners. Students of Satya Bharti School, Lordi Dejgara, Jodhpur, Rajasthan have been selected for a Special Jury Award for preventing child marriages in and around their village. Additionally five Satya Bharti Schools have found a place in the Changemakers award category.
