| | Teacher Training | The training of teachers is one of the most important constituents of the Satya Bharti School Program. All teachers undergo a 12 days basic pedagogical training before their first day at school. This is followed by another 12 days of training through the entire year and 10 days of classroom-based pedagogical support. The training modules are designed to equip teachers with the required skills, enhance teaching quality and help them to hone higher order thinking and communication skills in children through the use of innovative pedagogy. The performance of our teachers is measured against a set of parameters that identifies teachers’ strengths, areas of improvement and the student learning levels.
Capacity Building of Teachers Teacher-training modules are designed to facilitate classroom interactions towards propelling scholastic and co-scholastic growth among students. They also help teachers acquire skills to assess holistic development of children basis various parameters. There has also been a conscious effort to create need-based trainings by creating sub-groups among teachers and engaging them with the best available training resources.
Training Modules There are various teacher-training modules to aid the process of teaching at the Satya Bharti Schools.
Classroom – based Training Classroom-based trainings orient teachers to be a facilitator in the child’s learning process. A Cascade Training Model has been adopted in order to address the ongoing training needs of teachers. Trainers undergo expert training in pedagogy and in turn train teachers on the standard and skill and level specific modules.
Need – based Training Teachers often need support on specific aspects of teaching, which may not have been covered in the regular scheduled trainings. It is for these areas of special focus that need-based trainings are planned.
Refresher Training For issues that are common to a larger number of teachers, special refresher trainings are conducted at the cluster or district level based on the observations of cluster co-ordinators, trainers’ feedback and field realities. In 2010-11, 19 batches of refresher trainings were conducted for 589 teachers across five states addressing focus areas like Group Strategies, Interactive Teaching Learning Material, Thinking Strategies and Formative Assessment.

Training of Cluster Co-ordinators The Cluster Co-ordinators act as mentors to the teachers, helping the latter develop their pedagogical competence and also provide them administrative and moral support.
