Teacher Recruitment

The recruitment process is designed at hiring young and dynamic individuals with a passion for teaching children from the local communities and feeder villages. Recruitment Drives are carried out at the village and cluster levels to enable maximum number of people to appear for the selection process.

Teacher Training

The training of teachers is one of the most important constituents of the Satya Bharti School Program. All teachers undergo a 12 days basic pedagogical training before their first day at school. This is followed by another 12 days of training through the entire year and 10 days of classroom-based pedagogical support. The training modules are designed to equip teachers with the required skills, enhance teaching quality and help them to hone higher order thinking and communication skills in children through the use of innovative pedagogy. The performance of our teachers is measured against a set of parameters that identifies teachers’ strengths, areas of improvement and the student learning levels.

Capacity Building of Teachers
Teacher-training modules are designed to facilitate classroom interactions towards propelling scholastic and co-scholastic growth among students. They also help teachers acquire skills to assess holistic development of children basis various parameters. There has also been a conscious effort to create need-based trainings by creating sub-groups among teachers and engaging them with the best available training resources.

Training Modules
There are various teacher-training modules to aid the process of teaching at the Satya Bharti Schools.

Classroom – based Training
Classroom-based trainings orient teachers to be a facilitator in the child’s learning process. A Cascade Training Model has been adopted in order to address the ongoing training needs of teachers. Trainers undergo expert training in pedagogy and in turn train teachers on the standard and skill and level specific modules.

Need – based Training
Teachers often need support on specific aspects of teaching, which may not have been covered in the regular scheduled trainings. It is for these areas of special focus that need-based trainings are planned.

Refresher Training
For issues that are common to a larger number of teachers, special refresher trainings are conducted at the cluster or district level based on the observations of cluster co-ordinators, trainers’ feedback and field realities. In 2010-11, 19 batches of refresher trainings were conducted for 589 teachers across five states addressing focus areas like Group Strategies, Interactive Teaching Learning Material, Thinking Strategies and Formative Assessment.

Empowering our Teachers

Developing Head Teachers as Leaders
During the last academic session, special refresher trainings were held for the Head Teachers of the Satya Bharti Schools to provide hands-on learning experience in contextualized roles and functions of school leadership. To empower them further as agents of change, a specially designed intensive training program, in partnership with Manipal K-12,  was organized for 60 Head Teachers in Rajasthan and Punjab to address four specific domains of school functioning - Leadership, Teaching and Learning, Student Environment and Community Involvement.

Volunteer Teachers’ Training
Volunteet teachers at the Satya Bharti Schools are an additional asset to the teaching-learning process. We take special care to select candidates with a passion for teaching. Assigned to conduct extracurricular activities like Physical Education, Arts and Craft, Multimedia Classes, Teaching-Learning Material Creation, Remedial Lessons etc., the volunteer teachers assist the existing teachers in delivering quality education.

Training of Cluster Co-ordinators
The Cluster Co-ordinators act as mentors to the teachers, helping the latter develop their pedagogical competence and also provide them administrative and moral support. During 2010-11, 18 new Cluster Co-ordinators underwent 100 hours of training on various modules such as Pedagogical Foundations, Personal Effectiveness, Physical Education in Curriculum, Multiple Intelligence, Conflict Resolution, Leadership, Team building, Execution Excellence, Business Etiquette, Code of Conduct, Effective Communication and Time Management. The focus was on helping them internalize the learnings, reflect on their classroom implications and analyze practices from a pedagogical perspective.

Enhancing Accountability - Reward and Recognition

Charting a career growth path for teachers
At Bharti Foundation, it is our aim to provide continuous learning opportunities to our employees for their professional growth. During the last year, four primary school teachers were selected, basis their performance and were assigned to the senior secondary schools being run by the Foundation.

Performance Improvement Plan (PIP)
The Performance Improvement Plan was launched in 2009 for teachers who have the potential to improve with focussed intervention. PIP facilitates constructive discussions among teachers and their immediate supervisors.
