World over, in addition to being an expression of joy, marathons have also become a platform to raise awareness about various social causes. Individuals and corporate houses run the roads with enthusiastic fervour, to express solidarity for a cause close to their hearts. The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM) is one such event where every year, individuals, organizations and institutions come forward and pledge their participation to a cause or charity of their choice.
Since 2008, Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, has been actively associated with the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM). In 2014, we have successfully brought together more than 5,600 people across 74 corporate houses, approximately 160 students and over 750 individuals, raising approximately over INR 50 million (of which INR 11.4 million has been raised in 2014 alone) towards our flagship rural education initiative, the Satya Bharti School Program. Our presence at this forum has not only generated awareness about the cause of ‘quality education for the underprivileged’ but has also helped forge strong and sustainable Partnerships for Making a Difference. We believe that such associations will go a long way in ensuring that the program reaches out to each and every child in the remotest parts of the nation and makes a large scale impact on the overall education sector of India.
